A Tradition of Service
Our law firm has been providing legal services in eastern North Carolina since its founding in the early 1870s under the name Sheppard & Brown.
From 1914 to 2008, at least one member of Washington’s prominent Rodman family was associated with the firm, starting with William B. Rodman, Jr., who later served as Attorney General and Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Over the years, firm members have served in leadership positions on the local, state and national level, including three North Carolina Supreme Court Justices, three State Superior Court Judges, one member of the United States Congress, two Attorney Generals of North Carolina, and one President of the North Carolina Bar Association and North Carolina State Bar.
The firm now consists of four practicing attorneys.
